The Sentence completion test applied to the prostitudes


Abstract
The word association test has been thought to have many defects, lacking in the consideration of object¢¥s spatial life and behavioral world, influencing it¢¥s practical analysis, since this test was utilized by early psychoanalyst including. C.G. Jung. It is the sentence completion test (S.C.T.) that supplement the former. The sentence completion test, initially attempted by Tendler is consisted of 20 short sentences, ,to which various kinds ,of reactions can be obtained; that is, indivisual satisfaction, fear, hate, and active or negative interest. Thus, as study of the S.C.T. was gradually been developed and been used in the military purpose, S.C.T. consisting of 60 items was devised and popularly used. These 60 items are subdivided into 15 branches having different goals. Author attempted the psychological study of the prostitudes in specific social situation, utilizing the S.C.T. as my initial study.
The object were 30 prostitudes considered to be free from psychiatric disease, in ages ranging from 17 to 23 and with educational background ranging from primary to middle school.
The control group was consisted of 35 womens senior university students in average age of 22.
Scoring method is as follows;
1. Severely disturbed; which requires an aid of treatment to deal with the emotionalcompex.......2
2. Moderately disturbed; which does not require any aid of treatment but can manage the emotional complex by oneself.......1
3. Not disturbed;.......0
In order to define the degree of disturbance, signs of 0, 1, and 2 were used, deviding 60 items into 15 different purposeful branches, Evaluation of each items was based on the psychological interpretation experimented by Sacks utilizing the above mentioned scoring.
In the objects studied, high rate of disturbance was noted both in treatment requiring group and no treatment requirng group; In the group of prostitudes, fear, and guilty feelings could be detected in high rate and disturbance in family constalation, particularly toward their fathers, rivaly toward the same class, and disturbed goal, future were simultaneously noted.
It was found that in psychiatric point of view, they remain in psychiasthenic state.
